We were recently keeping our fingers crossed for Nazar, hoping his surgery would go well, and we’re now pleased to report that everything went smoothly and he’s already back home recovering.
The Foundation supported our beneficiary and covered the cost of the surgical procedure – a spastic muscle fibrotomy. Nazar has severe spasticity: his muscles are constantly tense and shortened, which restricts movement and causes stiffness, pain, discomfort and dystonic attacks.
During the operation, the surgeon worked on all the problem areas: the arms, legs, as well as parts of the face, back and abdomen. Through small incisions, a special instrument was used to perform targeted relaxation of muscle fibres (microfibrotomy) to reduce their excessive tension. The operation was performed under general anaesthesia.
The main aim of this procedure was to reduce spasticity, improve mobility, alleviate pain and discomfort, and open up better opportunities for Nazar’s future rehabilitation.
The Foundation and his mum are sincerely grateful to everyone who has contributed to this cause. It is thanks to you that such important steps are made possible. Together, we are giving children the chance of a freer and better quality of life.
