The Bonum Ukraine Charitable Foundation continues to support Olesia and her family, ensuring they are not left to face the daily challenges posed by her complex medical condition alone.
Olesya was born with a severe chromosomal abnormality, which led to a number of serious diagnoses: congenital hypothyroidism, clubfoot in both feet, and a protein breakdown disorder. It is this last condition that causes elevated ammonia levels in the blood, which has a significant impact on brain development.
The girl has been put on a strict diet limiting protein to 12 grams per day and a special protein-free formula containing free amino acids. However, even under these conditions, her ammonia levels remain high, and Olesya regularly experiences severe crises.
Doctors are forced to select medication on a virtually case-by-case basis, as the exact cause of the condition has not yet been established. This is precisely why genetic testing is a critically important step. It will enable us to identify the root cause of the condition, adjust treatment, and significantly improve the child’s quality of life.
Bonum has covered the cost of the necessary tests for Olesia to bring her closer to an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
We believe that no family should be left to face such challenges alone. And children with rare diagnoses can count on the support of our Foundation.
The donation amount is non-refundable, and the funds are distributed among the foundation's projects
