The charity is helping Sasha: the crucial tests have already been carried out!

The Bonum Ukraine Charitable Foundation runs a programme to help fund genetic testing and essential medical examinations for children who need an accurate diagnosis to ensure effective treatment.

Sashko is the third child in the family. His mother’s pregnancy and delivery went well, and the boy was born with good vital signs. However, doctors were alarmed by the unusual, elongated shape of his head. Following a detailed examination by a neurosurgeon, a diagnosis was made: a congenital skull defect (craniostenosis, scaphocephaly).
Sashko has been under specialist care from an early age. His development was delayed: he started sitting and walking later than usual, and his speech had not developed. Following consultations with a neurologist and a psychiatrist, the child was diagnosed with delayed mental development and autism spectrum disorder.
For five years now, the family has been actively involved in the child’s rehabilitation and has undergone numerous tests to understand the causes of his condition and help Sasha develop.

After his parents contacted Bonum, the Foundation covered the cost of a night-time EEG and genetic testing for Sasha. The results will help doctors assess the child’s condition and determine the most effective course of treatment.
