The Bonum Ukraine Charitable Foundation runs a ‘Rehabilitation’ programme, which Timofey has joined. He has completed the long-awaited rehabilitation course at the Kozyavkin Clinic; thanks to donations to Bonum, the foundation was able to pay for his sessions.
A genetic test confirmed Timofey’s diagnosis – SMA Type 1. At the age of 9, he cannot walk, turn his head or sit unaided. But by the start of the second week of our rehabilitation, changes occurred that his mum could previously only dream of: for the first time in a long while, Timofey was able to turn his head slightly to the right, and after manual therapy — to lie on his stomach, although due to grade 4 scoliosis and chest deformity, this had been impossible for many years.
His mum noticed other changes too — the hump on his back had become smaller. The doctors say that regular rehabilitation will help to slow the progression of the scoliosis and reduce the strain on his internal organs.
It is thanks to the ‘Rehabilitation’ programme that the Foundation’s beneficiaries receive not just treatment, but new opportunities, relief and hope.
“Thank you to everyone who stands by the Foundation and our children ❤️,” says Timofey’s mum!
